Why does the public prosecutor suspect Joran of murder?

On Monday the 4th of Fenruary, after the broadcast of Peter R. DeVries, crime reporter, the public prosecutor in Aruba announced that Joran van der Sloot is now formally suspected of the murder of Natalee Holloway. Spokesperson mr. Dop Kruimel explains why:

“Seen from a legal perspective, Joran van der Sloot says he disposed of Natalee Holloway’s body in the sea without being certain that she was dead. Since it would have taken him some time to organise a boat, that’s premeditation. From a strictly legal point of view, that constitutes murder.”
