Peter R. DeVries & Frans Meijer

Heineken kidnapper at large tracked down in South-America

In 1994 Peter R. DeVries scored one of the biggest scoops in his career. Shortly before his trial in 1985, the third suspect in the Heineken kidnapping escaped from jail and became one of Holland’s most wanted. After some ingenious detective work Peter R.
De Vries tracked Frans Meijer to where he had set up a new life in Paraguay.  Pinpointing the exact location Mr. DeVries, with out the aid of the authorities, took Meijer into custody and after a tense, dangerous car trip handed him over to the police. At which point Meijer was extradited to the Netherlands to face justice.
